Embracing Who You Are

Today I want to share with you a story about how I came to overcome my paralysing fear of speaking up and being seen, and the beginning of my journey to being comfortable with who I am and able to present myself and build a business.

So, it begins about 10 years ago. I was – and I call it paralysing – I was in a very inhibited state, so I was very fearful and really not able to express what I was feeling to anyone and feeling a lot of anxiety. Yeah, feeling, stressed, anxious a lot of the time and this was after I had done my NLP training.

But the point of this, I want to tell you the story of how I started my journey to embracing who I am. And it started with me journaling.

You know, at the end of each day, with all this anxiety about situations that happened during the day, I would bring those to my journal and I would sit and write how I felt. And then, in writing how I felt and what had happened, I started to tap into the part of me that was hurting, the part of me that was feeling anxious and fearful and that was the beginning for me.

That was the start of tuning into what is really going on for me.

And as I started to journal and I sat with those feelings and I started to really tune in, I became more aware of who that was, who that part of me was. And I started to, I started to connect with this part. It was the child part of me and I started to connect with her very regularly and to listen to what she had to say. And I get tearful thinking about it because the funny thing is (well, not funny) but that part of me – that part of all of us – is still there under the surface.

And I think that’s the part of us that gets fearful, that holds us back, that stops us doing what we really want to do.

The beginning of my unfolding, if you like, was me allowing that child part of me to be present.

And I think it has certainly been very freeing for me to be able to be present with that child part, and now that I’ve done so much more work on myself, to realise that actually that’s only a tiny part of who I am. And I’ve since been able to bring out all the other parts of me, but that was the beginning.

The beginning was to tap into, to listen to that child part of me, my inner child who was really hurting and not being listened to.

And it was by listening to her, I was naturally able to bring out the loving, nurturing mothering part of me. Because when you – it’s been my experience that – when you really listen and connect with that child part there is a natural, it’s almost like a balancing.

We all have a nurturing, mothering energy part to us and that comes out when we allow our child self to express what he or she is feeling.

It’s a natural kind of balance and it’s wonderful.

And that was the beginning of my feeling more balanced, feeling more loved and able to express who I am.

So, the reason I’m sharing this is because it’s possible for all of us to connect and listen and to nurture our child self.

I created an audio meditation which is really helpful in getting out of our mind space and really tuning in, taking you down into a meditative space so that you can connect more easily. It’s really nourishing, and I would love to share that with you.

So, if you would like a copy of that audio meditation, then do leave me a Facebook message or email me at hello@happybeingyou.com and I will send you a copy. So that’s my gift to you. And my challenge for you is to listen to that meditation or start a journal.

At the end of each day start to journal.

Take some time to write down, to feel into, to sense, to remember, to feel what’s been happening during your day and the things that have triggered you, and write those down and really tune in and listen to what’s going on. And that will be the key to your unfolding, to your bringing out that more vulnerable part of you so that you can nurture and mother and love that sensitive part of you.

So, I’ll leave it there. I could speak for a long time on this topic because that is something that I’m very passionate about and have a lot of experience in. So, I’ll leave you with that today. If you’d like that meditation, I would love to share that with you so just message me or send me an email.
